Vazha-Pshavela House Museum

The architectural ensemble of the Vazha-Pshavela House Museum blends with its natural surroundings and the existing terrain. The layout rests on preserving the natural relief of the site, the existing buildings and the historically formed setting.
Local stone and brick dominate the ensemble. The facades are marked by massive stone walls, brickwork, arched openings and traditional details that define the historic character of the buildings.
The project restores damaged sections, puts the stonework in order and keeps the existing architectural details. Particular care goes to the authentic forms of doors, windows and arched openings, which preserves the historic appearance of the ensemble.
The interior continues the character of the architecture: stone walls, arches and natural materials form one visual environment and tie the exhibition spaces organically to the building’s historic identity.
